Totally addictive zzoaozz 28 December My media edition computer has a Tivo like deal and has figured out that I like horror movies, so it saw the word Ghost and recorded four or five eps of Ghost Hunters for me. I rolled my eyes and watched the first one The guys in TAPS are interesting, sincere, and such an odd and occasionally volatile mix of personalities. What keeps me coming back, though, is that every now and then they do catch something that can't be explained, something that makes your skin crawl just a little bit.
Put aside your skepticism and give it a chance. All these paranormal show I take with a grain of salt.. OK a lot of salt! I never exclude the possibility of something "paranormal" directly out of hand but if activity is so high that you can make over 12 seasons worth of "investigations" something is fishy.
I have watched a lot of these shows and i very much liked the first four seasons. Those seasons i would rate around 7 ish. OK maybe add season five for good measure. Here are some things i really liked: Looking for explanations that are not paranormal pipes banging, clogged WC or just some worn out tabs.
Some people that move from city to countryside hear things that can be easily explained and should be ruled out first. However it became clear that there was a lot of faking going on and that it was strong with this series in particular. Especially when their "live actions investigations" were a total bust and you could see the twine hanging. Not saying it is Jason or anyone of his team, who are generally OK people, but still it does make your show a bit of a joke.
Because people will dismiss everything out of hand labeling it as "fake" from the get-go. After a couple seasons of this fake stuff, along with some people i really didn't like like Steve, Dave is cool though, the drama and mudslinging towards other paranormal shows began. Some were even more entertaining than the Ghost hunters show themselves.
They instigated it by having a potshot at the guys at Ghost Adventures. This drama enfolded a bit, probably because the ratings were dropping nice tactic guys sarcastically Conclusion: best seasons are the first five, the rest is going downhill fast where some should be rated as low as a one. Suggestion: maybe entertaining if it is the holidays and there is nothing else on the TV. PS i have watched every single paranormal show ever made so i know what i am talking about :.
In the Reality TV category, there are two primary shows dedicated to searching for evidence of hauntings: Ghost Hunters and Most Haunted. Anyone who's watched Most Haunted will testify to their usual antics: screaming a lot, claiming that every little noise or piece of floating dust is evidence of a spirit, a cheesy psychic with a penchant for melodramatics, and total absence of anything remotely scientific.
Ghost Hunters is the polar opposite. Grant, Jason, and their crew don't look to prove a haunting, but to debunk it, with interesting results. There's very little screaming or crying involved, and their adventures have taken them to many of the spooky places we've all wondered about. If you've never watched the show, I highly recommend the following episodes: - The first Eastern State Penitentiary investigation - The St.
One of the reasons I like this show so much, other than the fact that I'd be too chicken to do something like this on my own and it's much better to watch it from the comfort of my own room, is that not every episode turns up evidence. As a matter of fact, it manages to uncover what a lot of historical societies already know: that the tourist trade of many museums and supposedly haunted sites depends on manufactured ghosts. For a good example of this, watch the Queen Mary episode, and pay close attention to the supposedly "sensitive" staffer who adamantly claims to feel the presence of spirits.
There are many reasons to watch the show, but the few drawbacks include a lot of attention to Brian Harnois and his tense relations with the GH crew. Harnois talks too much, and as an avid fan I could Care less if he bothers to apologize for his shenanigans. I'd much rather see him bound and gagged in the van while everyone else conducts the investigation.
Without many frills or melodramatic voiceovers, this show achieves what Most Haunted can't - Credibility, un-manufactured chills, and a fascinating look at places some of us may never get to see for ourselves. Ghost Hunters WandrinStar 9 February Although I've heard complaints that the later seasons might be faked or staged, I got none of the feelings in the first season.
I love TAPS approach of trying to debunk hauntings rather than try and prove them. This gives the show credibility that is often lacking in this line of work. In fact, over half of the location TAPS visits found no evidence or was deemed not haunted. Even those who don't like the show have to appreciate the concept of two plumbers who become paranormal investigators by night.
The show is grounded, and you really see both Jason and Grant doing there best to collect evidence with a small budget that limits their headquarters to a trailer and limits their traveling the farthest west they went from their home in Warwick, RI was Pittsburgh. The show really does work as a docu-reality show as well as a ghost hunt.
The supporting team players for TAPS are numerous and interchangeable. The only other members that appear regularly and have a defined personality are Brian and Steve and to a lesser extent Donna and Andy. Brian in particular has been developed as the whipping boy of the show which both helps and hurts the show, although often there's reason to back up his bullying.
Appreciate the team throwing out useless evidence such as orbs, but would have liked to see them go further into the history of the buildings they are investigating while showing previous evidence at that location. Considering Jason and Grant are lead investigators, I want to see them having a bigger part collecting evidence during the cases.
Ghosts only come out if you turn off the lights. Pretty much says it all. The new GH is awful. Predictable, fake, and lots of misinformation.
The cast is for the most part pretty annoying and the show maintains none of the integrity of the original. Thankfully Ghost Nation is much, much better and true to the original GH. I made it through 1. I started watching Ghost Hunters about a year and a half ago, and I was hooked the moment I started watching it. Some of the things they find in the locations they visit turn out to be nothing exciting, but other things turn out to be extraordinary and scary.
I just watched an episode last night where they went to a house in Hollywood, CA that is ft. What they found there sent chills down my spine and really made me believe that the owner was being visited by these ghosts. I don't know if everything they find is authentic, but for those who believe that this show only tries to validate the existence of actual ghosts and nothing more, I want to let you know that the founders who are regulars on the show are plumbers and try to debunk some of the most basic examples of a haunting, such as the feeling of being watched, voices being heard, and so on and so forth.
Some of these experiences, I have learned, can be the result of faulty plumbing! Imagine that! Anyway, if you're a skeptic and don't believe in ghosts with a passion, you should still try to watch this show. And if you're like me who believes that there is something out there in the world, watch this show!! It's the best thing since Rugrats or those old kids shows that used to be on Nickelodeon during the late 80's and most of the 90's.
It spooks me every time I finish watching an episode, making me believe that I'm going to have experiences as soon as I turn off the television. But it's addicting!! Watch it! You won't be sorry!!!
I can't believe there are so many people still willing to buy this junk. But don't be snookered into believing anything they portray here. There's growing evidence that it is just as phony as pro wrestling, and much of it is completely staged. They just don't have the honesty to admit it, because that would ruin their ratings.
They attempted sending the remote-controlled boat out again and it shut off at the same point, which they used as concrete evidence of a ghost encounter. OR, for someone who has used a Go-Pro and said app used in the show, I know from personal experience that there is a certain distance that the app can sync with the Go-Pro.
Mostly because while using it I got too far ahead of the person viewing through the app and it lost connection. I knew the show was full of nonsense, but it's different when you actually can prove that it's fake. Have you ever been able to see through the crap that reality television tries to pass off as real? In , William H. But then he showed the curiosity to a Spiritualist friend of his. Consumer technologies from photography to telegraphy to radio to the internet are almost always immediately seized on by believers as offering further proof of the paranormal.
In , three children were watching Ding Dong School one afternoon on Long Island when the ghostly face of an unknown woman appeared on the screen. The television died completely a day later, but not before its paranormal nature had made it a minor celebrity.
After several years refining his technique, he published his findings in a book called Radio Contact With the Dead. He claimed that spirits would speak in multiple languages, sometimes in the same sentence. Sometimes they would speak backward. The problem, Amico said, is that something as simple as a cellphone can disrupt the field and make the EMF sensor light up like a Christmas tree.
It was clearly two different times. Then there are those who believe everything about investigations are bunk. They watch the shows so they can shake their heads in utter disbelief while wondering how anybody could buy the existence of the paranormal. I've experienced a lot of things I can't explain. The popularity of ghost-hunting shows, as well as those that tell supposedly "real" tales of hauntings, continues to be spirited.
